Low sexual desire is a common manifestation, which is characterized by decreased willingness to initiate and engage in sexual intercourse. 

 

  • Orgasmic disorder takes place when there is a reduction in the ability to achieve an orgasm with stimulation and sexual arousal. 

  • Sexual arousal disorder is when there is not a lack of desire but difficulty maintaining aroused during sexual intercourse. 

  • Sexual pain disorder is discomfort or pain during sexual intercourse or stimulation.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) affects client who has had previous trauma that may cause anxiety and interfere with the client having a pleasurable sexual experience. 


Sexual Identity Concerns may interfere with the client’s ability to have a satisfying sexual experience if they are confused regarding their sexuality. 


Hormonal Imbalance can cause sexual dysfunction related to a lack or excess of our sex hormones, as  well as thyroid and adrenal issues. Symptoms that may indicate hormonal imbalance are sexual pain, low libido, vaginal dryness as well as reduced arousal. 


Pelvic Floor Insufficiency is caused by lack of muscle  tone related to child birth, chronic constipation, or genetic causes which interferes with pleasurable intercourse and lack of sensation.
